Domestic and Household Services

MDHS must receive referrals from health and social care professionals.

This includes basic housework and spring-cleaning, and in some circumstances for health and hygiene reasons, a blitz-clean can be arranged.

All helpers are self-employed and have a Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) check.  They have to produce two professional references to ascertain their suitability by MDHS.  Help can be allocated weekly or fortnightly according to the clients preference.  Helpers are required to have appropriate Public Liability insurance cover.

If a helper leaves, then MDHS will provide a replacement helper when available.  A recommended minimum charge is made directly to the helper for these services.

A quality control programme is in place and clients may be randomly contacted throughout the year.  An annual questionnaire is sent to the clients to assess satisfaction.

Key Benefits

  • Giving help to stay independent at home.

  • Having a helper who will monitor any changes in the client's health and report back to MDHS.

  • Another person to talk talk to, which helps to alleviate loneliness.

  • An extra contact in the case of an emergency.

  • Having help with basic tasks which the client is no longer able to do for themselves.
